Christopher Archer

This website is kept online exactly as he left it — a record of an Indian summer well spent.

In Memory

Christopher Archer began this website at the age of sixty-five, having just retired — a record of the birdwatching, cycling, gardening and writing that filled what he called his 'Indian summer'. For over six years he wrote every week, with warmth, curiosity and quiet wit: about kingfishers on the River Glen, rides through the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland, a wild garden built for buttercups, and the woodwork and stories that filled the wetter days.

Christopher sadly passed away, and this website is kept online in his memory, exactly as he left it, so that his words and photographs continue to be read and enjoyed — by those who knew him, and by anyone who finds their own Indian summer reflected in his.
